Further Information
Floor Insulation (Acoustic)
Cellecta’s experience combined with an innovative approach has resulted in an extensive range of products and systems that exceed the acoustic standards of Approved Document E of the 2003 edition of the Building Regulations for both airborne and impact sound reduction through intermediate concrete, modified beam & blocks, steel-concrete composite and timber floors.

What does the new Part E require?
All separating floors now have to be constructed in such a way as to achieve the
specific sound insulation values as detailed Part E.
Methods of Compliance
Pre-completion Testing (PCT)
This method requires the contractor to test 1:10 units adopting each specific construction. All tests must be carried out by accredited acoustic engineers with the structure needing to achieve the minimum prescribed acoustic values.

Robust Details (RD)
This method eliminates the need for continual testing. Contractors can select from a number of rigorously tested approved robust constructions that will, if installed correctly, provide a level of sound insulation in excess of Part E requirements. The contractor then registers each unit that adopts the detail with Robust Details Limited, tel 0870 240 8209 and pays a registration fee.
