Roath lock Cardiff Bay Drama Studios
Cellecta’s DECKfon Quattro and FIREfon Micro 50 were identified as the ideal soundproofing solution for the BBC Studios in Cardiff. Both specialist products were successfully installed on the Casualty set and Holby City “Hope and Anchor Pub” of which the pubs refurbishment will constitute part of an actual episode.
Roath lock is BBC’s state of the art Centre of excellence for Drama, a venue celebrated for new acting talent and energy. Situated in Porth Leigr, Cardiff Bay, the 170,000 square foot facility, includes nine studios home to several flagship BBC dramas including Doctor Who, Casualty and Wizards vs Aliens. The purpose of the studios is to create a hub for creative sustainability and become the foundation for growth of the creative industries in Wales.
Soundproofing The Studio
To achieve the required soundproofing performance, Cellecta’s FIBREfon Micro 50 sound absorbing quilt was installed between the floor joists and DECKfon Quattro 43 acoustic overlay boards were installed directly to the timber joists. This building construction is highly regarded as an ideal solution for refurbishment developments aiming to achieve Part E acoustic Building Regulations.
