ScreedBoard 28 has been installed into the newly built Aberystwyth university student accommodation, which will be ready for new students at the start of this academic year. The new accommodation is located behind the existing award winning Pentre Jane Morgan student village and will be home to 1000 new students come September. The development was greatly inspired by the landscape and architecture of rural Wales, the student housing features a series of three storey buildings with flats for six or eight students living in self-catered accommodation.

Excellent Impact and Airborne Acoustic Performance

ScreedBoard 28 has excellent impact and airborne acoustic performance, a very important factor for a development made to accommodate noisy students. ScreedBoard 28 is the ultimate single layer acoustic overlay treatment, featuring interlocking edges for installation convenience. Its high density and unique resilient layer provides unrivaled acoustic performance. ScreedBoard has recently been recognized in the housebuilder product awards and took home the winners award for best internal/interior product award.Product winner 14 logo

Why was ScreedBoard 28 specified for Aberystwyth university?

[dt_divider /]

  • ScreedBoard was recognised as the proven solution to achieve high acoustic performance on the light gauge steel frame being used for the Aberystwyth University accommodation project.

  • Given the location of the project there was a need for a solution that could be stored on site easily and be accessed when required. This represented a significant benefit over flowing screed that typically needs to be installed within hours of leaving the production plant.

  • ScreedBoard is the only dry screed board featuring 100% recycled content, which is a significant benefit for Architects and specifiers aiming to achieve maximum BREEAM points.

  • The low profile 28mm boards offered significant design benefits over the alternative 50mm-120mm options available for this application.

  • Multiple floor finishes including ceramic tiles, laminate flooring & carpets can be installed on top.

  • ScreedBoard delivers a solid floor with a seamless ‘screed’ look finish.

  • The boards high impact resistance removes the bouncy floors typically associated with standard dry systems (acoustic cradles or acoustic batten systems).

  • With ScreedBoard 28 there is only one component to install, in comparison to Acoustic batten systems that feature four individual components.

  • The easy to handle 1200mm x 600mm boards were ideal for storage and distribution on site.
